The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is the flagship organization for school librarians. We work diligently to transform teaching and learning. As a proud member of this august organization, I stand in awe of all that we have accomplished in this ever-changing educational landscape.
Soon, we will come together to draft a new strategic plan that, combined with our newly revised standards for school libraries, will truly set the course for our future work together. Turning outward by proactively communicating with stakeholders such as library organizations, accrediting agencies, state departments of education, and appropriate school personnel, will provide us with valuable information to guide our efforts.

As President Elect, I will work shoulder to shoulder with my fellow members to maintain our course of forward progress by:
- Implementing the current and revised strategic plans.
- Promoting new and ongoing advocacy efforts.
- Encouraging adoption of the standards at the state and local levels.
- Continuing to assist our members to understand and take advantage of ESSA’s library-related provisions.
- Responding to the data-driven information demands of educational leaders by continuing to support research that demonstrates the effectiveness and impact of school libraries.
